Grant Description

Grants to Oklahoma nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for arts projects. Funding is intended for individual events, event series, performances, and works of art. Eligible disciplines include performing arts, visual arts, and literary and language arts. Proposed projects must have a central focus on the arts, be publicly accessible, and take place in Norman.

This granting program was designed to respond to the growing needs of arts and cultural organizations in the Norman community. The Transient Guest Room Tax Grant provides both financial and educational support for arts and cultural organizations. In addition, the program allows both citizens of Norman and its visitors to enjoy a wide variety of quality cultural offerings. A special emphasis is placed on projects that will attract overnight visitors to Norman, thereby increasing the amount of money available in the fund.

Eligibility:

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Organizations applying must be a 501C3 or equivalent.
- Organizations must be located in Norman.

University of Oklahoma applicants must be approved by either the Office of Research Services or the Board of Regents before applying.

Ineligible:

The NAC does not grant funds to: Fund-raising events, existing debt, capital projects, projects not accessible to the public, projects in direct conjunction with a religious service, indirect costs (other than admin).

Funds may not be requested for:
• Fund-raising events
• Grants to pay existing debts or for the purchase of capital improvements
• Programs not accessible to the general public
• Programs performed in direct conjunction with a religious service
• Indirect costs, other than administrative costs directly related to a program (not to exceed 20% of the requested funds).

Pre-proposal Conference:

NAC will hold two optional ZOOM “Office Hours” for any organization to attend with questions about the application process. These occur at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The deadline for 2023 – 2024 grant applications is 11:59pm, Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Early submission is encouraged.

All questions should be addressed to the NAC office or at the ZOOM Office Hours sessions. Individual help is available for applicants who request it prior to the deadline.

- November 2022: Grant applications window opens
- December 14, 2022: Grants Review Panelists Finalized by Roundtable

The amount requested for each Arts Program grant may not exceed 50% of the total project budget. All grant monies must go directly to the activities of the program.

For the FY23/24 Grant Cycle, the Council is ONLY accepting grant application for Arts Program Support. If you already receive Organizational support from the NAC, you DO NOT need to reapply this year. Organizational Support Applications will open up again for FY24/25.

Arts Program Support: Maximum Total Request - $21,000; An applicant may apply for no more than three (3) Arts Program Grants not to exceed a total of $21,000 combined.
